Japanese Ginger Pork (Shogayaki) Recipe
Classic Japanese ginger pork uses sugar, ginger, and soy sauce to create a sweet, flavorful pork dish that goes well with a side of cabbage or rice. It is easy to cook and takes less than 20 minutes to prepare.

- 1 Onion
- 500 grams Pork
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 3 tsp Cooking Alcohol
- 2 tsp Mirin
- 2 tsp Soy Sauce
- 3 tsp Grated Ginger
- Cooking Oil
Slice the onion lengthwise.
Add the thin pork slices, the sliced onion, sugar, cooking alcohol, mirin, soy sauce, and grated ginger into a mixing bowl.
Mix everything by hand and allow to marinate for 30 minutes.
Add a little oil into a frying pan. Remove the pork and onions from the marinade and fry them on medium-high heat.
After the pork is fully cooked, add the remainder of the marinade into the frying pan and flip the pork slices to apply the flavor to both sides.
Turn off the heat and plate the ginger pork with cabbage, rice, or another side.
