Japanese Spare Ribs Recipe

The ribs are specially cut, soaked in a marinade for over 3 hours and grilled to perfection. The marinade is made from traditional Japanese seasonings including soy sauce, as well as garlic, onion, balsamic vinegar, and honey! The honey adds a bit of a sweetness to the marinade creating delicious spare ribs.

Ingredients
  

Ingredient Preparation

  • 1/2 an onion
  • 800 g pork ribs (~2 lbs)
  • 60 g salt

Marinade

  • 4 tbsp cooking alcohol
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp grated garlic
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Grate half an onion using a grater

  • Make a notch between the bone and the meat with a knife

  • Add 60 g of salt to the spare ribs and rub well

Spare Ribs Marinade Preparation

  • Add the cooking alcohol, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, grated garlic and honey into a large zip-lock bag

  • Add the spare ribs into the bag, close the zip lock and remove the air
  • Rub the ribs in the marinade

  • Allow the spare ribs to marinate for at least 3 hours or overnight

Cooking the Ribs

  • Grill the spare ribs. (Optionally, you can cook the spare ribs on your stove top)
  • Enjoy!
