Japanese Hiyashi Chuka Recipe
Hiyashi chuka is a cold Japanese noodle dish that is perfect for a hot, summer day. The ramen noodles are loaded with tomatoes, eggs, cucumbers, ham, and other flavorful ingredients to create a colorful and refreshing dish. Cold noodles dishes are not that widespread in the USA, but in Japan they are often enjoy at home or in restaurants on hot, summer days. They are one of my favorite dishes to make during the summer. This noodle dishes is seasonal and only served in the summertime in Japan.
If you have never had a cold noodle dish before, I highly recommend trying this Japanese hiyashi chuka recipe. It is easy to make and tastes amazing. For this recipe, I used a cold ramen hiyashi chuka package that already included the sauce.
In this recipe, I just used the hyashi chuka sauce, but you can also make your own sauce. I like buying that package, because with the sauce pre-made, you can easily make this healthy recipe within 30 minutes.
Tips for Making Japanese Hiyashi Chuka Recipe
- Hiyashi chuka can contain multiple different types of toppings. You can add tuna, shrimp, and umeboshi as well.
- I recommend that you immediately eat this after cooking. The vegetables will dry out if you store it in the refrigerator for too long.
- It is important to remove the cold water from the noodles after straining. If you don’t properly remove the cold water from the noodles, the noodles will become sticky while eating them.
- In this recipe I used cherry tomatoes, but regular tomatoes can also be used.
- I made kinishita eggs (thinly fried eggs) in this recipe, but if that is too much trouble for you, you can always just make regular scrambled eggs.
