This Japanese bean sprout salad recipe is for busy nights when you don’t have much time to prepare a meal. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and is simple to make. You can use it as a side dish, or eat it as a snack when you are hungry. I often make this and other side dishes in advanced. When it’s time for dinner, I’ll pull out a couple of side dishes and combine it with a protein or carbohydrate to make a balanced meal.

You can eat this recipe as made, or mix it with leafy greens to make a salad. Also, if you ever make temaki sushi (hand rolled sushi), this can be used as one of the ingredients for the rolls.

Tips for Japanese Bean Sprout Salad

  • Spinach or carrots can be used in this recipe instead of bean sprouts.
  • Bean sprouts stored in the freezer can also be prepared using this dish. No need to thaw beforehand.
  • This dish can be refrigerated for about a week.
  • If you prefer spicy food, I recommend adding chili sauce.
  • If you are using bean sprouts as a side, I recommend eating it with beef. Bean sprouts and beef are a good combination.
  • For those on a budget, bean sprouts are relatively cheap!
  • Japanese style bean sprouts are also great for people who want to lose weight because they are filling and don’t contain a lot of calories.
